Challenges

Castle Nijenrode faces several challenges, the biggest problem being the subsidence of the Castle itself. In recent years, a solid plan has been worked on for the restoration of the Castle. Not only to restore it to its former glory, but also to make it sustainable, safe, and usable for contemporary activities. The acute problems of the Quay Wall and the Clock Tower also need to be addressed.
